Being a Champion for Self-Advocacy

Section Four: How to Build an Advocacy Team

This list serves as a guide for parents and caregivers as they are working with their child’s care. Each child and family’s Advocacy Team may look different and not all of the specialists listed need to be part of every child’s team. There may also be other members important to an individual to include on the team that are not noted on this list.

Child Life Specialists

Child Life may not be available at all facilities or units in a hospital or other medical facility. The organization, Child Life On Call, can provide many resources when child life may not be available.
