Art Toolkit – Magic Painting

What You Need:

  • White Paper
  • White Crayons
  • Watercolor Paints
  • Paintbrush

  • Draw on white paper with the white crayons. It will be difficult to “see” what is being drawn. Pressing hard or going over the white crayon makes it pop out more once painting.

  • Use watercolor paint to bring out the white crayon drawing; the watercolor paint will not stick to the crayon; thus revealing the “magic painting”.

This simple activity can be fun for a wide range of ages. Young children who are only scribbling can still get enjoyment out of seeing their scribbling appear after painting over it. An option is to have someone older draw something as a “surprise” and then have the children paint over it to reveal what it is.

All activities should be supervised by an adult.
